Boeing is relocating the headquarters of its Space and Launch division to Titusville. Boeing’s involvement in the region’s space industry is growing. The company has been the prime contractor for the International Space Station since the 1990s, and continues to provide services for key NASA programs such as the Commercial Crew Program to ferry astronauts to and from the space station, and the Space Launch System, which will launch spacecraft to the moon. Melbourne based Harris and L3 Technologies Inc’s recent $33.5 Billion mergers into L3 Harris Technologies Inc. has it ranked No. 6 among top global defense contractors. L3 Harris remains headquartered in Melbourne. General Dynamics just landed a 5 year, $29 Million contracts for submarine work with services in Cape Canaveral by the US Navy.
Port Canaveral - The 2nd busiest cruise port in the world is going to get a lot bigger! John Murray, CEO of Port Canaveral is overseeing the $2.6 billion strategic masterplans that will cover the expansion of the port's future through 2040. The plan will accommodate cruise, cargo space and commercial fishing.
In the near future, Cruise Terminal 3 Rebuild will get underway with its $150 Million makeover to accommodate the new super Carnival Cruise ship that will hold 6500 passengers. It’s the target date for completion is only months away in June 2020.
Port Canaveral - Brevard Zoo will be expanding to the Port with it’s plans for the new $70 million, 130,000-square-foot aquarium at Port Canaveral that will focus on conservation of the Indian River Lagoon’s natural features and recall stories of the region's history, including space launches, sport fishing, shrimping, beaches, the port and other factors related to the Indian River Lagoon and the St. Johns River.
Titusville - Knight’s Armaments Co. was awarded a $16.5 Million, six-year contract by the US Army according to a Dec 20th report published by the U.S. Department of Defense.
New Construction - Space Coast Town Center - Located on the SW corner of I-95 and the 192/New Haven Ave intersection it will include an apartment complex, 257,000 square feet of retail space with a 30,000-square-foot grocer, 1400 Class A multifamily units, a 13-acre, 55 and older development, and a pair of hotel with a total of 270 rooms.
